Finalized Combat Mechanics
Neon Skylines » Devlog
Done! Ok, nothing is ever totally done, but done enough for a release. Some play testing and awesome feedback from others resulted in the final mechanics. I think this ended up in a very good place AND it is deadly! Players will think 2x before diving headlong into a battle.
The combat mechanics have been updated. This change involves the following:
- Characters now take Hits instead of having Hit Points. As they take damage, their hits go up. Once they've reached their maximum Hits, they are KO'd and need to be tended to or take a quick rest to reset their hits to 0. When they are KO'd, they reduce the maximum number of hits they can take by 1. When the max hits they can take reaches 0, they are dead. This allows keeping the max hits low and gives it some drama as the max hits they can take goes down as the adventure continues.
- Enemies have been updated to reflect the max hits changes.
- Healing has been updated to account for recovering max hits via healing and resting.
