This game had humble beginnings as a 1 page RPG, front & back. Over time, it turned into a 4 page game which included optional rules and advice. I felt compelled to maintain a compressed layout and format to keep the page count down, which is good in some respects and bad in others.

After working on Mythiria and Rough Destiny, I decided to apply the same page size (A5) to Heroic Tales. In the process, I found free space for art, which the original desperately needed. I found some awesome free art on itch (yeah, free!?) that fit the theme of the game perfectly. I also found it very easy to add some extra content!

Play Samples

One thing this game really needed was some examples for how rolls work, especially combat. I took the opportunity to add multiple pages of play samples.

Expanded Oracles

The original game had the Yes/No oracle. I expanded them to include tables for Adjectives, Actions, and Themes.
